Clare Zinkin is our children’s book specialist. She regularly produces an updated set of booklists for children in years 3 to 6, which we offer with our compliments to families using our other services.
Each of the year group booklists has two versions: A list for parents explaining the reasons for its selection and the genre that each book fits into, and another for the children, in case they want to choose from the list themselves. This latter list is alphabetical, so that children can simply choose a book that interests them rather than being told they are ‘reluctant readers’ or reading a ‘classic’.

Clare Zinkin is a children’s book and reading for pleasure specialist. She firmly believes, given the right environment, that all children would love reading if they found the right books.
Using her extensive knowledge of children’s books from her publishing background and her in-depth reading of children’s literature, Clare recommends children’s books to parents, children and schools. She writes a twice-weekly blog with news and reviews of children’s books, as well as featuring author interviews.
Clare is in contact with all the major children’s publishers as well as many independents, represents London at the Federation of Children’s Book Groups, and helps run testing for the Red House Children’s Book Award. She also runs a library club at a local primary school and is a member of IBBY.

Clare worked for many years as a children’s book editor, starting at Dorling Kindersley before going freelance. She has also been a primary school literacy governor and regularly puts schools in touch with authors.

Clare also makes tailored booklists either for individual children, according to their likes and dislikes, or on themes, such as coping with the death of a grandparent, or confronting fears of the dark. She can also advise parents on helping their children become lifelong readers.

The Good Schools Guide places JK Educate in its Section A category of tutoring agencies and their review of our work is highly positive:
"These women are dynamic and warm, and they certainly know their onions when it comes to education - a combination that makes you feel instantly at ease with them as well as in safe hands." "The parents we spoke to couldn't get enough of these add-on options. 'It's a one-stop shop for tutoring, but it's a la carte, which means you can pick and choose what works for you. What could be better?' said one parent." "For a tutor, it's near on perfect, and the customer ultimately benefits from that too, one tutor summed up."
