Preparation for school entrance interviews

This preparation gives our students the confidence and skills they need to create a good impression. We explain the interview process, give examples of the questions that are asked and help the child consider how they would answer in ‘live’ conditions.

Depending on the school, the process can vary, but we provide top interview tips, helping the child understand that no answer is wrong, as long as it can be explained and is delivered with confidence. We look at the importance of voice projection and the dynamics of interacting with others in group interview situations. Our interview preparation also includes a mock English oral comprehension and questions based on a piece of art.

Interview preparation sessions last for an hour and parents are encouraged to attend too so they can practise some of the skills with their child after the session.

NEW! 11+ MOCK GROUP INTERVIEW

New for this year’s cohort, we are offering 11+ mock group interview sessions, on Sunday, 11th November 2018. Children are often interviewed or observed interacting in small groups, so there is a real benefit in preparing them in this way.

Our morning session will start promptly at 9am and the finish time will be 12.  Our afternoon session will start at 2pm and finish at 5pm.

Our mock group interview consists of a three-hour session with a maximum of 6 children in a group. The group interview tasks will be delivered by a qualified, experienced senior teacher. An experienced member of the JK team will watch the children’s responses and they will then write up their observations and recommendations for each child. Each session will be interactive and very similar to the type of activities and tasks that are given to children in group interview situations.

The skills we will test during these mock interviews will be: listening skills, collaboration, leadership skills, team work, general knowledge and the child’s behaviour.  We want this to be a very positive and helpful experience, so that in the real interviews they will be able to show their very best!

We will follow up this day with a brief report on each child’s performance in the mock group interview. This report will be sent to parents along with some general information and tips to help you be involved in your child’s preparations for the real interviews, using this valuable feedback.

Testimonial

'Lottie was offered a place at all of the three schools she applied to. There’s no way that would have happened without the superb tutoring and the confidence you managed to install in her. We’re incredibly grateful. See you at GCSE time!'

The Good Schools Guide
The Good Schools Guide places JK Educate in its Section A category of tutoring agencies and their review of our work is highly positive:
"These women are dynamic and warm, and they certainly know their onions when it comes to education - a combination that makes you feel instantly at ease with them as well as in safe hands.""The parents we spoke to couldn't get enough of these add-on options. 'It's a one-stop shop for tutoring, but it's a la carte, which means you can pick and choose what works for you. What could be better?' said one parent.""For a tutor, it's near on perfect, and the customer ultimately benefits from that too, one tutor summed up."
