Our Approach

WE OFFER TUTORING FROM THE AGE OF 5 ONWARDS
JK Educate’s one-to-one tutoring is effective and dynamic, helping children reach their potential at school and in exams. We carefully match children with the tutors who will best suit their personalities and their learning requirements. Many tutors meet their students in person, but we also offer face to face online tutoring and support across London, the UK, and internationally.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is different. We put a strong emphasis on getting to know your child and their circumstances through conversations with parents and our unique educational assessments. This enables us, through our select team of talented and highly qualified tutors, to offer advice, bespoke planning and individual and group teaching, to enable your child to reach their full potential. We work with children from 5-18 years old and with adults – whatever their academic ability and whatever their goals. The consultancy now operates to support families across London, the UK and globally, offering face to face and online tutoring.
Professionalism, integrity and an intense commitment to providing the best possible service underscores everything we do. Your child. Our priority. Let us know how we can help you.
Please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.
FIRST STEPS
We talk with parents to gain an understanding of the background information and nature of the help required.
It is best for each child to be assessed as the assessment gives parents and teachers a clear understanding of the child’s ability level, their strengths and weaknesses and information regarding potential.
Following the assessment, parents are given a report which highlights recommendations for tutoring. This becomes the starting point for tutoring and helps us to select a tutor who is best placed to assist the child. We provide continual support and supervision for parents, teachers and students ensuring continuity of quality, effectiveness and rate of progress.
OUR TUTORS ARE DIFFERENT
Our tutors are experienced professionals, who are supported, trained and monitored by us. As experienced teachers, we know the exact requirements needed for a successful tutor and we select the right tutor for each student – both in terms of academic needs and personality fit – as chemistry is very important and our tutors all need to inspire and motivate our students in their learning. Our tutors have a proven track record, are passionate about education and love working with children. We have teachers who are deputy heads, senior managers, subject specialists and class teachers. In addition, we have a select group of graduates who are recruited for their substantial subject knowledge and engaging personality.
We interview all our tutors as part of a rigorous selection process. We check academic qualifications, certificates and identity documents. We also require an original Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, not more than three years old. We take up full reference checks and only retain tutors who receive positive client and student feedback.
Following the careful selection process, our tutors are trained online through the JK Academy. The training ensures that our consultant tutors understand how to approach students, the issues surrounding different learning styles, and practical techniques to make lessons effective and fun. Our senior team monitors student progress through a detailed monthly reporting process to ensure that we maintain our consistently high standards.
OUR STORY
Founders Lorrae Jaderberg and Katie Krais began working together as class teachers in 1999. They went on to support each other in a range of senior management roles within schools, including SENCO and Deputy Headteacher.
With parents increasingly confused by the ever-changing world of education, and a lack of clear guidance and informed advice, JK Educate was formed in 2010 to provide much-needed support to families. The consultancy now operates across London and further afield, including advising families moving into the UK education system from overseas, and providing tutoring support for everything from 7+ entrance exams to undergraduate studies.
In 2022, JK Educate became part of the Dukes Education family. Dukes Education and JK Educate are closely aligned as organisations. They are both all about empowering young people through education, to flourish and thrive in life, and reach their full potential. JK Educate has influenced and brought about many positive changes in the tutoring industry, and the future, with Dukes, looks even more exciting.
With JK Educate becoming part of the Dukes Education family, Lorrae has retired, and Katie has continued as Managing Director, supporting their joint beliefs and continuing the JK legacy of excellence in achievement, high quality teaching and caring support for students and their families. For over thirty years, Lorrae’s professional focus has been to develop her educational knowledge and skills, to teach children effectively and make a positive contribution and difference to their lives. Katie shares Lorrae‘s vision and belief that every child should be given the opportunity and encouragement to achieve to the very best of their ability and potential. This remains at the heart of all that JK Educate does.

This TrustPilot review highlights the type of successful long-term relationship we form with families:
"We have been using JK Educate for many years. They helped us to prepare my daughter for secondary school admissions exams and they just helped her to prepare for her Cambridge interview. She has just been offered a place. Her JK Educate tutor did an absolutely brilliant job of supporting her to rebuild her confidence after the school’s approach to preparing her had rather seriously backfired!
“Over time we have turned to JK Educate on occasion for support with specific areas for both of our children – sometimes just building their confidence and sometimes preparing for a specific event. For example, when my son felt he was excelling at Maths but not very good at English in Year 5 a tutor helped him to really enjoy developing his creative writing. They have done a brilliant job of matching tutors to the needs of our children and providing them with the additional boost they need to really enjoy and flourish in their learning."
